Our Heart Journey Continues

Sometimes, when you think the journey is over, it’s really just beginning.
Looking back at our time with Dolores and at what lies ahead, I can say that Dolores saved Jen’s life. The high blood pressure issues we dealt with after Dolores came to this world, now makes more sense. The concerns that we had have led us to discover something that would have drastically changed our lives in a heartbeat if left untreated.
On Friday, September 25, 2026 we found out that Jen has an aortic aneurysm that had been building up over the last 1-2 years. At the root of her aorta (where it connects to the heart) her aorta is about 6.5 cm. To put this in perspective, a normal aorta should be about 2.5 to 3 cm. Jen's is over double the size it should be. It was a disaster waiting to happen, and if Jen didn’t just give birth to a baby and struggle with blood pressure, we may never have found it in time.
It was quite the news to hear, especially knowing how athletic and active Jen has been. How healthy she has been. I would have never guessed that we would be dealing with this issue for her.
There’s a lot I could dive into, but most importantly I wanted to provide an update on what is happening and ask for your prayers. Jen is in good spirits and is ready to take on this challenge, but it won’t be easy. It will be a challenging recovery.
We are blessed with a very good surgeon and team at University of Colorado Anschutz Hospital and will be in good hands. God is with us and has truly blessed us, so we walk into this with a strong faith and trust that everything will go well.
Dolores is also praying for us and walking with us.
Jen’s surgery is Thursday October 8, 2026 first thing in the morning. Your prayers are greatly appreciated. I will try and post an update on this site as soon as I can after the surgery.
